Matchbox Ford Mustang Boss 302

Old School Drag Racing with a Modern Twist by Charles McKay

Customiser: Charles McKay
Country: America

"My favourite style of customising is old-school drag racing barn finds," says Charles. "For this project, I wanted to bring a Ford Mustang Gasser style to life, just like the ones you’d see tearing up the drag strips back in the day."

This nostalgic approach sets the tone for a truly remarkable build. From the stance to the finer details, every aspect of this Mustang echoes the spirit of vintage drag racing culture.

A Nostalgic Inspiration

Attention to Detail

The customisation process began with Charles adding a set of Hot Wheels tyres and rims to achieve the aggressive stance and drag-ready look synonymous with gasser builds.

Every element of this custom Mustang speaks to Charles's passion for his craft. The combination of vibrant paint, bold tyres, and the intricacy of the wired HEMI engine creates a stunning visual impact while staying true to the old-school drag racing vibe.

The bodywork received a dazzling makeover with Tropical Glitz paint in a shade aptly named "Florida Grown," giving the car a radiant finish that catches the eye.

Under the bonnet, the Mustang boasts a 3D-printed HEMI engine created by JLBCustoms, a fantastic detail that adds depth and authenticity to the build. "The engine is also fully wired using hobby wire," Charles explains, a touch that demonstrates his dedication to realism and craftsmanship.

A Journey Through Time

"This Mustang was a way for me to channel my love for barn-find aesthetics and retro drag racing," Charles shares. It’s this personal connection to the theme that makes his work stand out. Each customisation is not just about the final product but also about telling a story, capturing a moment in automotive history, and blending it with his artistic vision.
