From Classic Truck to Custom COE:
José Alejandro Alcántara’s Ford 1956 Transformation

Customiser: José Alejandro Alcántara
Country: Mexico

José Alejandro Alcántara Barajas took a 1956 Ford F100 truck and completely reimagined it into a Ford COE with remarkable craftsmanship. The process began by cutting the casting into 12 pieces to widen, lengthen, and increase its height. Using a plaster mould, he reinforced the structure with resin and fibreglass before shaping it with automotive paste.
Reimagining a Classic: From Ford F100 to Custom COE
For the chassis, he repurposed parts from another casting, modifying intricate details such as the engine, turbo, radiator, exhaust system, suspension, and disc brakes.
This custom build is fully modular, allowing the body, chassis, and wheels to be displayed separately to showcase the meticulous detailing. José’s exceptional craftsmanship earned him a place in the Solitario Garage Competition, which was featured in Japan Car Culture, Issue 17.
A Showcase of Craftsmanship
With expert craftsmanship and a vision for reinvention, José Alejandro Alcántara Barajas took a vintage Ford F100 and turned it into a stunning custom COE, complete with intricate detailing, functional elements, and a striking patina finish.
Precision Engineering and Authentic Details
Functionality was key, with working door and hood openings, simulated mirrors, and a detailed interior.
A weathered patina effect was carefully hand-painted to add realism, featuring brushwork techniques for a worn and rusty finish. Swarovski stones were used for headlights, and a unique gas cap detail included a flannel to mimic a missing cover. Dually-style rubber tyres completed the look.
