Some builders draw inspiration from real-world vehicles, while others take a more imaginative route. Abraham Palafox, also known as Abe, @hawtwheelsguy on Instagram, falls into the latter category. This creation, named Dastardly & Muttley, pays tribute to one of the most notorious animated duos in cartoon history. Can you guess which?

Bringing Classic Cartoon Chaos to Diecast Customisation

Abe's project is a dynamic duo in itself, consisting of a Maisto Mack truck and a Hot Wheels Satellite, transformed into a custom hauler with an aviation-inspired twist.

The trailer underwent a serious modification, originally featuring a covered top. Abe removed the roof, allowing for a more open, display-style hauler. Various model kit parts and custom touches were added, including a front end sculpted with Milliput, a material commonly used for hand-crafted detailing in custom diecast work.

Sitting on the back of the trailer is the Hot Wheels Satellite, which Abraham transformed into a unique hybrid design. It features elements inspired by the Sopwith Camel, a famous twin-wing fighter plane from 1917, famously associated with the Red Baron.

The result? A custom that seamlessly blends automotive, aviation, and cartoon nostalgia into a rolling work of art.

Abe has been customising diecast cars for over 21 years, working primarily with Hot Wheels and Matchbox from what we have seen. His long-standing passion for diecast customisation is more than evident in the meticulous details of his builds, from the expert paint finishes to the handcrafted body modifications.

A Custom Build with a Cartoon Twist

The truck started as a Maisto Mack, now stretched for a more aggressive stance. It’s been sprayed in deep purple flake, with red candy accents adding a vibrant contrast.

The Satellite rides on moondisk wheels, sprayed in candy red, giving it a distinctive retro-meets-aeronautical aesthetic.
